Child-like Faith

"I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the Kingdom of God."  Matthew 18:3

Why does Jesus want us to be as little children?  What is the one major difference between children and grown-ups?  Ah, to have the faith of a child!  A small child so readily believes what is told him; he trusts so easily what Father says is true because Father said it!  He believes the pain is gone and the "bo-bo" will be OK. because "Father said so."  Ah, for a child-like faith!

This is the faith God wants us to have through Jesus . . . to believe what our heavenly Father says just because He said it, and that's that.  God's Word is powerful and true, yet why don't we believe it -- fully?  Why do we doubt?  Does a small child doubt his daddy?  No, because Daddy is the one he is totally dependent upon.

Somewhere between those simple innocent all-believing years of childhood and now . . . we've lost it; we've grown up into self-reliant, all-sufficient, I-can-do-it-myself  "adults."  And God our Father sadly shakes His head in disappointment.

What's happened?  You grew up, you say -- yet in that growing up something wondrous was stolen away.  Because we're forced to grow up in the world, satan has far too many chances to snatch away the innocence of our youth.  Because we are born unto this world, sin steals our childlike faith and begins "steeling" our hearts.  Satan starts to work hardening our hearts and plants doubts in our minds.  "What if I ask and pray and it doesn't work?"  His demons torment us with self-pride.  "If I risk it and nothing happens, I'll look foolish in front of everyone!"  Oh, how those little demons work overtime on our pride, guilt and doubt . . .

We just need to call out to God, "Help my unbelief!"  God is your Father and He will not give you stones if you ask for bread.  Ask, with a heart filled with pure motives, ask expectantly, and He will gladly give.

So when doubt, or any other form of fear, rears its ugly head and whispers in your ear, say to yourself these words of Jesus, "Do not be afraid; just believe" (Mark 5:36).  And who believes better than a child?  Therefore, when the Father tells you something -- believe it, receive it, claim it -- for it is done!!  Renounce fear, drive demons away and proclaim healing in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the blood of the Lamb . . . for by His wounds from which the blood did flow, we have been healed.

Change My Heart Oh God

Change my heart oh God
Make it ever true
Change my heart oh God
May I be like You

Change my heart oh God
Make it ever true
Change my heart oh God
May I be like You

You are the potter
I am the clay
Mold me and make me
This is what I pray

Change my heart oh God
Make it ever true
Change my heart oh God
May I be like You
